Ukie Board Election 2022 results: seven representatives elected to board

The Ukie Board election has concluded and seven people have been announced as Board members.

The following individuals are set to join, or re-join, the Board after successfully winning enough support from Ukie’s full membership.

·       Mark Backler, Sketchbook Games

·       Simon Barratt, Cooperative Innovations

·       Des Gayle, Altered Gene

·       Li Ma, Tencent

·       Harinder Sangha, Sumo Digital

·       Maria Sayans, Ustwo

·       Tim Woodley, Hello Games

There have also been a number of departures from the Ukie Board. The people who have stepped down from the board over the past year in elected roles are Debbie Bestwick MBE, Team 17, Adam Campbell, Amazon and Ranjani Natarajan, Robot Teddy.

Additionally, Angela Dickson, Activision Blizzard, Phil Mansell, Jagex, and Giselle Stewart OBE, Ubisoft have stepped down from their roles as appointed board members. They have been replaced by Chris Garratty, Kelvin Plomer and Mark Slaughter respectively.

The news was announced at Ukie’s Annual General Meeting, which took place at EGX in London and saw the announcement of the relaunch of the refreshed UK Games Map.

Dr Jo Twist OBE, CEO of Ukie said: “We’re pleased to welcome a number of new faces to the Board. Ukie operates at its best when it is effectively supported and scrutinised by individuals who represent the full spectrum of our amazing sector. The newly elected Ukie board does that and we look forward to working with them.”

Tim Woodley, Chair of the Ukie Board and Head of Publishing at Hello Games, said: “I’m pleased to have been re-elected to the Ukie Board to continue my term as Chair. Ukie has made real progress on a range of issues crucial to the future of the industry in my time as Chair and I will work with the board to ensure the team continues to work hard to ensure the UK remains the best place to make, play and sell games.”
