WXY announces ‘Gaming Goes To The Movies’

Author: Gemma Wieczorek, WXY

Gaming PR agency WXY is launching a scheme that debuts new game releases on the big screen to support the UK’s cinema industry.

‘Gaming Goes To The Movies’ will feature socially distanced and secure hybrid events where key gaming media and streamers get an exclusive glimpse at upcoming games from the comfort of their cinema seat.

It aims to provide a cash injection into UK cinemas and help save jobs, while also offering a platform for games developers to share their games with the media.

WXY has partnered with Everyman Cinemas to deliver the first event in London in January, with a view of rolling out quarterly events across the UK throughout 2021. The business is currently looking to secure a headline sponsor for the event, as well as register interest from gaming companies looking for an opportunity to showcase their new titles.

Marc Young, WXY founder and director, comments: “With gaming events cancelled throughout 2020, we want to kick off the new year with a safe and secure way for developers and publishers to share their games with the press. Combining physical and virtual event elements, we hope ‘Gaming Goes To The Movies’ becomes the blueprint for future gaming events in the UK.”

The inaugural showcase is set to include games from a broad range of games producers. Marc continues: “From day one, we’ve provided PR services that are affordable and accessible for indies, which is why we’re providing game time slots at the event for free. However, to do this, we must secure a sponsor and hope to team up with a business that’s just as passionate about both the gaming and cinema industries as we are.”

Currently looking for sponsors and developers to take part, you can register your interest here.
