The United Kingdom is a powerhouse in games development and publishing. From the early days of bedroom coders through to the multinational studios of today, the UK has been at the forefront of games development for over 40 years.

At the heart of the games industry, not only in the UK but around the world, are the incredible people that lead and inspire games development and publishing.

In this series of events, you will hear from five industry leaders from the UK games industry. They will share their stories, their passions, their successes, and their failures. In many cases they are legends of the industry. But each and every one of them are still at the top of their game, creating amazing, enthralling experiences for the players of today.

The speaker at this event is Ian Livingstone, CBE.

Ian is Chairman of the Sumo Group plc and a partner in VC fund Hiro Capital. He is a founding father of the UK games industry having co-founded Games Workshop in 1975 and launching Dungeons & Dragons in Europe. In 1982, he co-authored The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, the first Fighting Fantasy gamebook in the series which has sold 20 million copies worldwide. He moved into video games in the early 1990s, later becoming Executive Chairman of Eidos plc where he launched Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Hitman and Deus Ex. His angel investments in video games studios include Playdemic (Golf Clash) and Mediatonic (Fall Guys). He is a leading advocate for computing in schools to promote creativity, computational thinking and problem solving.
