Make-A-Wish UK create life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses. Gaming is a lifeline for many of the children we serve. It provides them with social engagement when they’re undergoing treatment and unable to attend school or clubs with their friends; it gives respite and distraction from the challenges they face every day with their critical illness, and it offers a welcoming and inclusive community where they can be who they want to be again.
As a result, it’s not surprising that we’ve experienced a 400% increase in gaming wishes being requested since 2019.
- We work with the games industry to grant wishes – designing games, meeting favourite creators, having consoles/gaming PCs, and creating memorable games-related experiences.
- We deliver Wish 200 Week – an annual fundraising campaign which seeks to raise enough funds to grant 200 wishes through partnerships in the sector and livestream fundraising events.
- We create wish experience workshops and volunteering opportunities for the games industry to get involved directly in granting wishes, providing team building and supporting CSR initiatives.
At any one time, over 5000 children in the UK are waiting for a wish. Our aim is to be able to grant them all.
