Yesterday was International Women's Day: a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. In tribute to the many amazing women in the games industry, Ukie's #RaiseTheGame pledge organised a careers panel to inspire and empower budding games developers.
Chaired by Grace Shin, Ukie's own Policy and Public Affairs manager, the following four fantastic women shared careers insight and advice, as well as day-in-the-life testimonies:
- Bianca Fogah - Social Media Manager at Modern Wolf
- Huda Mahdi - FE Lead for Game Development at ACM Games Academy
- Leia Schall - Greenlight Administrator at Secret Mode Games
- Sara Machado - Head Of Recruitment at Hitmarker
The session began with questions from Grace on everything from the panellists first experiences of video games, how they were inspired to join the industry and the experience of being a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry. From there, our panellists opened up to questions from the livestream audience and closed up with some poignant advice to young female game professionals.
