Speakers announced for the Ukie Student Conference at Staffordshire University

Introducing the program information for the Ukie Student Conference, which is back at Staffordshire University on Wednesday 26 October with its first in-person event since 2019!

This free-to-attend conference is a fantastic opportunity for university and college students to learn about career opportunities in video games and to connect with industry.

Talks will also be streamed online for those unable to attend in person, and include:

Louise Andrew, Head of Art, d3t 

Being a Games Artist 

This talk from Louise Andrew, Head of Art at d3t, covers how to be a great games artist, how to get a job as a games artist and what it is really like to be a games artist! Louise will also share her background, plus her portfolio and interview top tips. 

Georgina Cornelius, Talent Acquisition Manager at Sumo Group 

Getting into the Games Industry 

A talk from Georgina Cornelius, the Talent Acquistion Manager at Sumo Group, on what to do – and what not to do – in job applications and interviews for the games industry. 

Beccy Collins, Character Artist at Sumo Digital 

From Staffs to Sumo Digital 

Beccy Collins is a Character Artist at Sumo Digital, and a Staffordshire University graduate. Beccy will discuss her day-to-day as a 3D Character Artist and share her experience of landing a job in industry after graduating, including some helpful tips. 

Stephen Arthur, Head of Graduate Careers at Mastered 

The Dos and Don'ts of Getting Hired in Games 

Stephen Arthur is the Head of Graduate Careers at Mastered. With nearly 10 years of career guidance experience, Stephen has supported over 500 graduates into full-time work and will be discussing proven strategies to secure your dream job within games.
